The journal of Ilona Hoyos, 1939

Edited by Alex Barry

Introduction, by Nancy Jennings: In 1939, my great-grandmother Ilona and her husband Eddy Hoyos travelled to England, Wales and Ireland. The photos above were taken on that trip. Ilona’s wonderful holiday journal was discovered, edited and annotated by my first cousin Alex Barry.

Re Gottfried Bismarck: it is a documentary fact, that Gottfried Bismarck was from 1933 to 1944 a high ranking Nazi ( member of the NSDAP ) representing the deadly idiology of killing impaired people and the jewish population where they could get hold of them, apart of being a member of a party, which started a deadly war.

That Gottfried Bismarck was imprisoned towards the end of the war had to do, that the NAZI regime and Hitler suspected, that he was involved in the attempt to assasinate Hitler. However, that could never be proofed, otherwise he would have been sentenced to death.

However, there is a story in the family, that Gottfried Bismarck became a Nazi in 1933 in order to fight against the infiltration of communists into Germany. For me it is a bit far fetched. To comply with the attrocities of the NAZIS in high positions in order to fend of communists from 1933 to 1944 is for me a meager excuse.
